Obituary

Robert N. Como, 81, of Monessen, died Friday, April 15, 2011, at 11:47 a.m. at Kindred Hospital, Oakdale. Born June 26, 1929, in Monessen, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Frances Tocco Como. Mr. Como was a member of Epiphany Of Our Lord Church, Monessen, was a retired chief chemist from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen Plant, member of the Monessen Elks, the American Iron and Steel Institute, and served as a former chairman of the United Way and past district commissioner of the Boy Scouts. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Lisa Como, of Bethel Park, a daughter, Jennifer Como, of South Fayette Township, three grandchildren, Joshua, Gabriella and Nicholas Como, and his beloved companions, Boca and Keys. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Biagini Como, who passed away on Aug. 27, 1998, two brothers, James and Raymond Como, and a sister, Norma Como. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 17, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, (724) 929-6183. Prayer service will be held Monday, April 18, at 12:45 p.m. in the funeral home followed by Funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. at Epiphany Of Our Lord Church with the Rev. David J. Nazimek as celebrant.
