Obituary

Pete “Papyak” Yakich 79 of Charleroi died Sunday September 30, 2018 at his home. Born November 27, 1938 in Charleroi, a son of Elsta “Bull” and Frances Evans Yakich.  Pete was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Allenport Plant after 43 years of employment. He was a Vietnam veteran serving with the United States Army National Guard. Pete was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Charleroi, an honorary member of the Charleroi Volunteer Fire Dept. after serving 30 active years , the Roscoe American Legion Post #801, a member of the Belgium Club, Charleroi Russian Club, Pricedale Russian Club, Monessen Eagles, Charleroi Italia Unita Club, Allenport Rod & Gun Club, Naomi Club, Roscoe Slovak Club, California Hill Gun Club, Belle Vernon Moose and the 10th Street AC.  He is survived by his wife Noreen Molisee Yakich, 3 children Charles (Julie) Yakich of Charleroi, Lynda (Mike Selenger) Yakich-Package of Coal Center, and Bil (Steve) Yakich of Elizabeth Twp.,; 7 grandchildren; Kera, Janelle, Brandy and Cody (Tailor) Package, Kayla (Bill) Smith, Nicole (Dean), and Charlene (Dave) Yakich; a sister Kay Yakich Seemuth of Charleroi, and 2 brothers-in-law; Harold (Jerrye) Molisee of Oklahoma, Gene (Vivian) Molisee of Georgia, a sister-in-law Barb (Matty) Hartman of Charleroi; his dog Shaggy and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 3, 2018 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc. 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi where funeral services will be held on Thursday October 4, 2018 at 10:30am with Rev. Matthew Stabe presiding. Interment will follow at Belle Vernon Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Roscoe American Legion Post #801.
