Mildred L. Humphries; 87; of Monessen; died peacefully on Monday; Sept. 29; 2008; at HCR Manor Care in Pittsburgh with her family at her side. Born Jan. 17; 1921; in Alicia; Pa.; she was a daughter of the late Theodore D. and Irene E. Walters. Mrs. Humphries was Baptist by faith and a professional homemaker. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters; Millie Blount; of Atlanta; Ga.; and Haleloke (Saleumsak) Khammungkhune; of San Diego; Calif.; one son; Carroll D. (Emma Joyce) Humphries; two brothers; Theodore D. Walters Jr.; of Austin; Texas; and Robert E. Walters; of Monessen; three sisters; Hilda W. Simmons; of Pittsburgh; Shirley E. Taylor; of Monessen; and Dolly A. Smith; of Masontown; one sister-in-law; Dorcas Glasco; of Washington; D.C.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; Samuel H. Humphries Sr.; one son; Samuel T. Humphries; five sisters; Helen Walters; Evelyn Mason; Florence Davis; Bernice Gummer and Doris Lee. Funeral services officiated by Elder Jack A. Howell were held Thursday; Oct. 2; 2008; at the BEVERLY C. DRAPER FUNERAL HOME; 608 Sixth St.; Monessen (724-684-6242). Interment took place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
