Maisie Virginia Newbill, 97, of Belle Vernon, affectionately called Aunt Maisie to those who knew her, passed away quietly on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born on Jan. 1, 1917, in Richwood, Va., she was the daughter of the late Whitfield and Florence Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Newbill and her twin sister, Mabel Irene Bowman. She was a member of The Church of Christ located in Duarte, Calif., where she resided for over 40 years until moving back to the Mon Valley. Aunt Maisie was a very giving, caring and loving person. She is survived by a devoted niece, Betty Lawson of Belle Vernon, a host of other relatives and friends, and numerous great-great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the BEVERLY C. DRAPER FUNERAL HOME INC., 608 Sixth St., Monessen. Interment was held at Belle Vernon Cemetery.
