Guy Lang; 86; of Monessen; died Saturday; February 23; 2008; in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc. He was born in Belle Vernon on July 1; 1921; the son of the late John and Anna Catherine Winn Lang. He was a resident of Monessen most all his life and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and the former St. Leonard Roman Catholic Church; American Legion Post 28; and the Eagles Aerie 2399. Mr. Lang was retired from the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; having worked in the Open Hearth Electrical Department. Following his retirement; he worked at the former Star Lanes Bowling Alley in Monessen. He was an avid bowler and a member of several bowling leagues over the years. He was a veteran of World War II; having served with the U.S. Army in Company L of the 319th Infantry Regiment in Europe; receiving the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with a Bronze Star. He is survived by wife of 64 years; Carmella Corkie Lang; a son and daughter-in-law; Thomas D. and Patti Lang; of Belle Vernon; a daughter and son-in-law; Tanya and Lawrence Sobek; of Monessen; three grandchildren; Natalie R. Glaspey and husband; Christian; and Thomas A. Lang; all of Belle Vernon; and Yancy J. Sobek and wife; Melissa; of Monessen; four great- grandchildren; Christian; Carley and Conner Glaspey; and Isabella Sobek; two sisters and brothers-in-law; Rita and Bill Watson; of Monessen; and Donna and Frank Jan; of Columbus; Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by three brothers; Melford; William and John Lang; two sisters; Evelyn Havrilak and Maryellen Wysochanski; and one granddaughter; Andrea P. Lang. Friends will be received Tuesday; February 26; from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICES; 441 Reed Ave.; Monessen (724-684- 8750). Services will be held Wednesday; February 27; beginning with a 9:30 a.m. Blessing in the funeral home; followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R.C. Church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. American Legion Post 28 will conduct a service for their fallen comrade on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. in the funeral home.
