Obituary

Olga A. Shipitz, 88, of North Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late Andrew and Helen Garber Komlos, she was born in Monessen on Aug. 26, 1924. Olga previously resided in Fayette City until moving to North Belle Vernon in 1965. She was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, George F. Shipitz Jr. of Columbia, S.C., a daughter and son-in-law, Helen Joyce and Harry Jones of Elizabeth, four grandchildren, James Dzatko and Joshua, Nathan and Monica Shipitz, and one great-grandson, Caleb Shipitz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Shipitz Sr., on Feb. 6, 1972, and five brothers, John, Andrew, Emil, Michael and George Komlos. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, INC., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, http://www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com A blessing service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, with Msgr. Roger A. Statnick officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed in the funeral home at 3 p.m. Monday led by members of St. Sebastian Parish.
