Obituary

Private services and interment were today in Belle Vernon Cemetery for Virgil L. Coatsworth, 93, of Charleroi who died Wednesday, November 21, 2007 in the Residence at Hilltop. A son of the late Van and Jennie Hicks Coatsworth, he was born in California, PA on November 3, 1914. A resident of Charleroi, since 1963, Virgil had been employed at the former Vesta 4 Mine and retired in 1979 from California University of Pennsylvania where he was a custodian. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Raymond Stringer of Roscoe and Diane and Lawrence Bonde of Belle Vernon, one stepson and daughter-in-law, Jack and Marcella Dailey of Charlotte, NC, two sisters, Martha Wilson of Charleroi and Lois Adamson of Brownsville, three grandchildren, Barry Stringer and his wife Jamie of Daisytown, Larry Bonde and his wife Danalle of Monessen and Lisa Shook and her husband Stanley of Washington, PA and three great-grandchildren, Justin Stringer and Sydney and Madison Shook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Ann Messina Coatsworth in 1993, his 2nd wife, Gertrude Smith Coatsworth in 1985 and his 3rd wife, Mildred Speer Dailey Coatsworth in 2006, three sisters, Sarah ‘Sis’ McNeil and Irene and Doris Coatsworth and one brother, Connard Coatsworth.
