Obituary

Ted Makovsky, 89, of Scottdale, formerly of Belle Vernon, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007. Born June 15, 1918, in Roscoe, he was a son of the late Joseph and Sophie Braddock Makovsky. He was a resident of Scottdale for the past several years. Mr. Makovsky was a member of Pricedale Union Church in Rostraver Township, where he was a past trustee, and he was a retired lineman for Local 126 in Philadelphia. Mr. Makovsky was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Force, and served as recording secretary for Local 126 Unit 2 in the Pittsburgh area. He also was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and the Naomi Athletic Club. He is survived by two brothers, Leo Makovsky, of Fayette City, and Edward Makovsky, of Eugene, Ore., and special, devoted friends, Stella Bell, of Scottdale, with whom he made his home, and Ronald Bell and family, also of Scottdale. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Costello Makovsky, on Feb. 17, 1992. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. James J. Mimidis of Pricedale Union Church officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
