Obituary

Raymond Moody Jr., 61, of North Belle Vernon, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. A son of the late Raymond and Evelyn Woods Moody, he was born in North Charleroi on Jan. 15, 1946. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department, the Knights of Columbus Council 3026 and the American Legion, Post 659, all in Belle Vernon. An avid hunter and fisherman, Ray was, at one time, active in Belle Vernon youth soccer and baseball, and he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 36 years, he had been employed by U.S. Steel Corporation, Irvin Works. Survivors include his beloved wife of 36 years, Judith Ann Ceccarelli Moody, two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lou and Chris Hasson, of Rostraver Township, and Marci and Ken Seliga, of Belle Vernon, one son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Jill Moody, of Belle Vernon, eight grandchildren he adored, Brendan and Marissa Hasson, Tyler, Logan, Dylan and Kenzi Rae Seliga, and Hunter and Tanner Moody. Ray was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, was preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Moody Timko. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY INC., (724-929-5300), 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com. A blessing service will be in the funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. William Feeney and the Rev. Lawrence Manchas, V.F. as co-celebrants. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The North Belle Vernon Fire Department will hold services at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. On Friday, the rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m., led by members of St. Sebastian Parish, the Belle Vernon American Legion will conduct services at 7 p.m., and the Knights of Columbus will hold a service at 7:30 p.m., all in the funeral home.
