Obituary

Westley D. Sloan, 58, of Donora, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, in The Uniontown Hospital. He was born Sept. 7, 1948, in Donora, son of the late Charles Sr. and Theoplia Whittington Sloan. He was employed as a certified pipefitter by U.S. Steel in Clairton. Mr. Sloan was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church of Donora, where he served on the Usher Board and a member of the Senior Choir. He was a former Exalted Ruler of Mon Valley Lodge No. 208 IBPOE. He is survived by his wife, Bonita Taylor Sloan, of Donora, two sons, Lamont Taylor and Westley D. Sloan Jr., both of Donora, two daughters, Donya Sloan, of Fayetteville, N.C., and Leslie (Darryl) Reed, of Baltimore, Md., three brothers, Robert (Nora) Sloan, and James Dwight (Brenda) Sloan, all of San Diego, Calif., and Stanford (Louise) Sloan, of Ambler, one sister, Charlie Mac (Theodore) White, of Carroll Township, his mother-in-law, Anna Maude Taylor, of Donora, his sister-in-law, Audrey Sloan, four grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Jr., Winslow, David and Gonzella, one sister, Gwyndelyn, and his father-in-law, Leroy Taylor. Friends will be received Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in St. Paul Baptist Church, South McKean Avenue, Donora, where services will be held Saturday, July 28 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. George Sloan officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the HOUSE OF LAW, Penn Hills.
