Matthew E. Stefanick; 79; of North Belle Vernon; went to be with his wife in Heaven on Tuesday; June 12; 2007; at 4:50 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital; Carroll Township. Born Sept. 11; 1927; in Fayette City; he was the son of the late Michael and Anna Nalepa Stefanick. A resident of North Belle Vernon; Mr. Stefanick was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon; and was retired from Fisher Body – GM Corp.; where he worked as a presser/welder. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict; where he served in the U.S. Army and was the recipient of the Purple Heart; a life member of the Fairhope Rod & Gun Club and was an active member of its bowling league. Mr. Stefanick was a resident of Victoria House; Monessen; for the past year and a half. He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law; Michael H. Stefanick; of North Belle Vernon; and Marti and Mary Stefanick; of Belle Vernon; four grandchildren; Beth Ann Stefanick; Michael Ryan Stefanick; Matthew David Stefanick and Brandi Lynn Stefanick; three step-grandchildren; Brittney; Ben and Chelsea; and three great- grandchildren; Jesse; Thomas and Kirsten Marie. He was preceded in death by his wife; Gertrude Marie Searles Stefanick; on Oct. 23; 2005; daughter; Mary Ann Stefanick; two sons; Mark Stefanick and Matthew Stefanick Jr.; brother; Rudolph P. Stefanick; and sister; Blanche Yetsconish. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; family owned and operated; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon (724-929-6184). A Prayer Service will be held Friday; June 15; at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home; followed by a Funeral Mass at noon in St. Sebastian R.C. Church. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
