Obituary

Alice Mae Granma Mikita, 82, formerly of Monessen, died Thursday, April 19, 2007, in Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, Tenn. Born in Monongahela on Aug. 17, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Cora Sarber Munger. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Mikita Sr., one son, Wilford, seven brothers, Charles, Henry, Walter, Louis, Leroy, Glen and Earl Munger, and two sisters, Pearl Leach and Myrtle Liz Steadman. She is survived by two sons, John Mikita Jr., of Indianapolis, Ind., and George Mikita and wife Amy, of Monessen, and three daughters, Kathleen Mikita, of Donora, Suzanne Baker and husband Robert Jr., of Charleroi, and Denise Coleman and husband James, of Bristol, Tenn., eight grandchildren, Suzanna (Brian) Daniels, of Monessen, Kristin Mikita, of Monessen, Allison (Narvin Dale) Sandridge, of Saucier, Miss., Amber Mikita and fiance Jerry Frost, of Monessen, Stephen Mikita, of Monessen, Amanda (Dillion) Joshua, of Donora, George Allen Mikita and Aaron Mikita, both of Monessen, 16 great-grandchildren, Brandon and Nicholas Varga, Shane, Lindsey, Justin, Dawson and Carroll Sandridge, Kristie and Ernest Hewitt, Anika Mikita Pone, Abeni and James Pone Jr., Tyler Mikita, Alicia Frost and Jeremiah and Christian Hess, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday from7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen (724-684-3700). Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 25, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Marton officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
