Obituary

Elmay Horner, 84, of North Charleroi (Lock No. 4), went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2007, in the emergency room at Mon Valley Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born Aug. 23, 1922, in Altavista, Va., the daughter of the late William and Nanie Morgan. A resident of the Mon Valley for most of her life, Mrs. Horner was a member in good standing at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Charleroi, where she was a missionary and a member of the usher board and the senior choir. Mrs. Horner was the mother of the church. She loved sitting in her kitchen with family and friends playing cards. Mrs. Horner also was an avid bingo player. She was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge. Members will conduct a service Tuesday evening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Slu Horner, and son, Clarence Archie Horner. She leaves to cherish her memory five sons and four daughters-in-law, Earnest M. (Vivian) Horner, of Charleroi, William J. Horner, of New Port Richey, Fla., Herbert A.P. (Armorta) Horner, of Charleroi, Alfonso Bruce (Angie) Horner, of Texas, and Alfred D. (Bernadette) Horner, of Charleroi, two daughters, Patricia A. Horner, of Charleroi, and Diane B. Faulks Williams, of Pittsburgh, 18 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Brushton Avenue, Charleroi. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 4, at 11 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Wanda L. Sawyer giving the eulogy. Officiating will be the Rev. Anthony Bristol. The pastor of Mt. Sinai is the Rev. Leroy C. Harris Sr. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the WILLIAM R. TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 645 McMahon Ave., Monessen (724-684-4877). Trudy Taylor-Bristol is the director in charge. .
