Obituary

Joseph C. Shackley, 77, of Monongahela, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. A son of the late Cecil Shackley and Loretta Henniger Shackley McPeak, he was born in Pittsburgh on April 2, 1929. He was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and the Belle Vernon Moose. Formerly of Belle Vernon, he had resided in Monongahela for the past two years. Joseph retired in 1993 from the Federal Reserve Bank of Pittsburgh and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Holly and John Fedoris of Carroll Township, Kathy Bell and companion Dan Mosco, of Fallowfield Township, Wendy and Russell Brown, of Fayette City, and Lorie and Nathan Ford, of Breezewood, one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph C. II and Lisa Shackley, of Glendale, Ariz., one sister, Loretta Rae Worrall, of Clearwater, Fla., 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and one nephew and three nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Lynn Shackley, on Aug. 4, 2004. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE, www.fergusonfuneralhome.net, a Golden Rule Member Firm, (724-929-5300), 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. with Pastor James Mimidis officiating. Entombment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of American Legion Post 659 will meet in the funeral home to hold services Tuesday at 7 p.m.
