Obituary

Viola Nastasia Mendicino, 83, of North Belle Vernon, passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. A daughter of the late Samuel and Carmela Ciampaglia Nastasia, she was born in Charleroi on Oct. 10, 1923. She was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon, the former Court Belle Vernon 1522 Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Outcast Bowling League, the Belle Vernon Legion Bocce League and the Belle Vernon Golden Agers. Formerly of Monessen, she resided in North Belle Vernon for the past 63 years. Survivors include her husband, Michael Mendicino, with whom she celebrated 63 years of marriage on Oct. 27, 2006, three daughters and sons-in-law, Emily and John Watson, and Elaine and Thomas Barger, all of North Belle Vernon, and Gloria and Donald Ivill, of Rostraver Township, one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Michael A. and Cheryl Mendicino, of North Belle Vernon, one sister, Rose Biagini, of Charleroi, 10 grandchildren, Anthony (Elizabeth) Watson, Michael J. (Bethany) Watson, Dianna and Stephanie Barger, Michelle, Matthew, Douglas and Justin Ivill, and Michael T. and Samantha Mendicino, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Greyno, Alvina Bucci and Amy Nastasia, and one brother, Michael Nastasia. Visitation will be private. Family and friends may attend a Funeral Mass in St. Sebastian R.C. Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lawrence Manchas VF as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE, www.fergusonfuneralhome.net, a Golden Rule Member Firm, (724-929-5300), 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Belle Vernon Library or St. Sebastian R.C. Church.
