Obituary

Roger T. Frederick, 86, of Belle Vernon, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at 12:30 p.m. at the VA Hospital, Aspinwall, Pittsburgh. Born Sept. 12, 1920, in Belle Vernon, he was the son of the late Spera and Flora Tintori Frederick. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. Frederick was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and a retired custodian from Union Cleaners, both in Belle Vernon. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army with the Battery D 485th Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. He also served at Pearl Harbor, Heckman Field during the attack, was captured by the Japanese and survived the Bataan Death March. Mr. Frederick was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659. He is survived by two brothers, Raymond and William Frederick, both of Belle Vernon, two sisters, Myrna Markham and Lorraine Frederick, both of South Park, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jordan and Roland Frederick. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 1 p.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church, Belle Vernon, with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas V.F., pastor, as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Roger Frederick on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
