Walter V. Mood; 90; of Monessen; died Friday; Sept. 8; 2006; in Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late Gust and Lillie Glotfelty Mood; he was born in Braddock on May 17; 1916. He was a member of the Pricedale Union Church. For over 50 years; one of his passions was teaching Sunday school to the youth. Walt was active in Gideons International; was a member of F&AM Lodge 638 and American Legion Post 28; both of Monessen and the National Rifle Association. He was the owner and operator of Mood and Mood Lumber Company and served during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent most of his recreational time hunting; fishing or trapping. Survivors include his wife; Virginia C. Carper Mood; with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage on Aug. 30; 2006; one son and daughter- in-law; Walter and Glenda Mood; of Saskatoon; Saskatchewan; Canada; two brothers and sisters-in-law; Jack and Florence Mood and Carl and Linda Mood; all of Fayette City; and four grandchildren; Walt Mood and wife Laura; of San Antonio; Texas; Steve Mood and wife Sheree of Calgary; Alberta; Canada; and Ronda and Ryan Heit; both of Saskatoon. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law; Edwin and Emma Mood; and one sister and brother-in-law; Evelyn and Henry Renstrom. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Monday; Sept. 11; at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. James Mimidis officiating. Entombment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
