Obituary

D. Scott Nelson II, 46, of Fayette City (Brownstown), died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at work. He was born in North Charleroi on May 8, 1960, a son of Duane S. and Kay Schwalb Nelson, who survive and reside in Belle Vernon (Fairhope). Formerly of Belle Vernon, he had resided in Brownstown for the past 12 years and was a member of the First Christian Church of Fayette City. He was employed by D.H.S., Inc. of Charleroi as a residential companion. Scott's family and friends were very important to him. He was an avid fisherman, loved camping, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Scott was truly loved by all who knew him. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife of 12 years, Joann Eland Nelson, one daughter, Melissa K. Nelson, at home, two sons, Duane S. Nelson III, of Elizabeth, and Nathan J. Nelson, at home, one sister and brother-in-law, Lynne and Ken Gumbert, of Allenport, one brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Regilane Nelson, of Florence, Ky., his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Helen and Charles Eland, of Fayette City, his paternal grandmother, Martha Nelson, of Charleroi, three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in law, Robert and Mary Jo Eland, Gordon Eland, and Charla and Joe Peters, many nieces and nephews, including William and Samuel Gumbert, Joshua and Jakob Nelson, and Julia Nelson, and a special great-nephew, Jacob Ludwick. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristen Lynne Nelson, in 1996, his paternal grandfather, Vernon Nelson, and his maternal grandparents, Herman Schwalb and Evelyn Darr Wyatt. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE, www.fergusonfuneralhome.net, a Golden Rule Member Firm, (724-929-5300), 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Funeral Services will be in the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne Boring and the Rev. Suzanne Currie co-officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
