Viola Carpenter-Rawlins; 75; formerly of Monongahela; was called home to Glory on July 7; 2006; while in Mon Valley Hospital. She was born July 20; 1930; in Boligee; Ala.; one of seven children and the daughter of the late Roy and Rosetta Carpenter. Viola retired from the West Penn Allegheny Health System after many years of devoted nursing service. Over recent months she had resided at Kenric Manor in Donora. Prior to her illness; she was a faithful member of Covenant Christian Church; Dr. Frank J. DePolo; Belle Vernon. Viola was a deeply spiritual woman who loved to share laughter and her faith in God. She leaves to cherish her memory: one son; Alan Edward (Karen) Rawlins; of Rockville; Md.; two daughters; Schlain Lynne Rawlins; of Monongahela; and Lorraine Carol (William) Grayson; of Uniontown; one sister; Arwilda Mathis; of Donora; several beloved nephews; nieces; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; cousins; and a host of other devoted relatives and friends. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; Ira E. Rawlins; one son; Clarence Rawlins; four brothers; William; Robert; Daniel and Cleo Carpenter; and one sister; Ida B. Johnson. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday; July 12; from 10 to 11 a.m.; the hour of service in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church; 230 Reed Ave.; Monessen. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert C. Holmes and Dr. Frank J. DePolo. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the BEVERLY C.
