Obituary

Virginia V. Doed Venneri Halgas, 75, of North Belle Vernon, died Saturday, June 17, 2006, at 9:35 a.m. at her home. Born July 1, 1930, in North Belle Vernon, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Erminia Fuoco Venneri. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon, Mrs. Halgas was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon and a retired telephone operator from Bell Telephone in North Belle Vernon. She is survived by her husband, Rudolph Rudy Halgas, one son, Brian Halgas, of Belle Vernon, one daughter and son-in-law, Noreen and Joseph Newhouse, of Belle Vernon: two granddaughters, Samantha Newhouse and Audrey Halgas, one brother and sister-in-law, Val and Helen Venneri, of Belle Vernon, and two sisters and one brother- in-law, Stella Hamadock, of Dover, Del., and Josephine and John Mannarino, of Bristol. She was preceded in death by one brother, Sam Venneri, and one sister, Joan Turk. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724- 929-6183). A Prayer Service will be held Tuesday, June 20, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas V.F., pastor, as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. On Monday, members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Virginia Halgas at 3 p.m., the North Belle Vernon Fire Department will conduct services at 7 p.m., and a service will be conducted by the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus at 8 p.m., all in the funeral home.
