Obituary

Lola Vaughan Wooley, 84, of Stockdale, formerly of Birmingham, Ala., died Sunday, June 11, 2006.

She was born Nov. 21, 1921, in Minter, Ala., a daughter of the late Joe and Rose Coleman Vaughan.

She attended Roscoe Presbyterian Church and was employed as a registered nurse for 45 years in the Birmingham, Ala., area.

She attended Duke University for classes related to her nursing profession.

After retiring, she owned and operated a day care center for 13 years.

After moving to Pennsylvania, Mrs. Wooley volunteered at the Center in the Woods.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce (Steve) Gazdick, and Linda Nucci, all of Stockdale, four grandchildren, Rory (Helen) Gazdick, of Speers, Stefanie (Gary) Betts, of Cable, Ohio, Terri (Eric) Leibowitz, of Yardley, and Jason (Yvonne) Nucci, of Stockdale, six great-grandchildren, Laura and Tony Gazdick, Megan and Angela Betts, and Jacob and Aliza Leibowitz, three step great-grandchildren, Carley, Jamie and Chris Toman, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Otis Judson Wooley, on June 11, 1995, four sisters, Mildred Baswell, Dorothy Bennett, Irene Stinson and Josie Wooddy.

Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the ED MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES INC., Roscoe, where funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 14, at 2 p.m. with the Rev.
