Obituary

Virginia M. Kurdilla, 87, of Monessen, went with our Lord on Tuesday, March 7, 2006, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was born Jan. 15, 1919 in Monessen, a daughter of the late Adolphine and Florence Richie. Mrs. Kurdilla was a lifelong resident of Monessen. She served as a staff leader with the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) during World War II. Mrs. Kurdilla also served as a Past President of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 1190 in Monessen and was an Avon representative for the past 50 years. She is survived by a daughter, Candace J. Kurdilla, at home, a sister, Laura Aiello, of Baltimore, Md., a brother, Robert Richie, of Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Kurdilla, on Jan. 14, 2000, two sisters, Lorraine Soltis and Clara Forgas, and one brother, Charles Richie. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the YONEY and DeROSE FUNERAL HOME, 100 Schoonmaker Ave., Monessen. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 10 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Ron Schermerhorn officiating. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
