Obituary

Carl A. Barbour, 72, of Donora, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at his home. He was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Belle Vernon, a son of the late Edward and Jennie Barbour. He retired in 1996 from U.S. Steel, Clairton Works, where he was employed as an electrician. While residing in North Carolina, he served as a deacon at Greater Harvest Fellowship Church of God in Christ in St. John under the pastoralship of Bishop Leroy J. Woolard. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Barbour, two sons, Kevin Barbour, of Virginia, and Michael Smith and wife Stacey, of Washington, five daughters, Jackie Barbour, of California, Terri Barbour, of Pittsburgh, Michelle Smith, of Charleroi, Tina Bass and husband Joseph, of North Carolina, and Deanna Carpenter, of Donora, with whom he resided after returning to Pennsylvania, one brother, Jay Barbour and wife Pam, of Pittsburgh, 12 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Daryl Barbour and Daniel Carpenter. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Newness of Life Church, 489 McKee Ave., Monessen. Additional viewing will be held in the church on Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service with Elder J. Richard Bass officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the BEVERLY C. DRAPER FUNERAL HOME INC., 608 Sixth St., Monessen.
