Obituary

Josephine Costantino Ortolona, 90, of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township), died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township, where she had been a patient since Dec. 14. Born Jan. 14, 1915, in Charleroi, she was a daughter of the late John and Lucia Daura Costantino. Before her marriage Josephine worked at the MacBeth Glass Plant in Charleroi. She and her husband were also the proprietors of Ortolona Beer Distributors in Rostraver Township and Tony's Grille in Monessen, where many steel and iron workers enjoyed her delicious spaghetti sauce and tripe. Josie Nana was a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose great sense of humor will live on in the hearts of her family. She loved playing bingo and until she was 85 would ride the bus to local games. During the last five years she has been lovingly cared for by her family, her special angel granddaughter, Michele Fleming, and her caregiver, Lavern Matthews. She is survived by her children, Anthony Ortolona Jr. and Rose Stewart, Mariann and James Posey and Lucille and Eugene Sams, all of Belle Vernon, Toni-Jo and Monti Kunka, of Rostraver Township, and Joseph and Caren Ortolona, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., one brother, Pete Costantino, of Ontario, Calif., 13 grandchildren, Jacqueline Burger and husband Joseph, Ronald Ortolona and wife Christine, Angela Cieslinski and husband Michael, Debra Pfile and husband Joseph, James Posey and wife Melissa, Michael Posey and wife Tara, Michele Fleming and husband Tim, Gina Suppa and husband Tom, Jillian Kunka, Jodee Faryna and husband Michael, Jeremy Ortolona, Jacob Ortolona, and Dennis Kubala and wife Brandy, 16 great-grandchildren, Anthony and Zachary Ortolona, Nicholas and Kaitlin Cieslinski, Tanner and Alexis Pfile, Carley Campbell, Jenna and Jake Posey, Jacob and Morgan Posey, Joshua and Jesse Suppa, Falon Faryna, and Katelyn and JoLynn Kubala. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony D. Ortolona Sr., in 1975, a granddaughter, Joanna Posey, in 1964, a grandson, Anthony Ortolona III, in 2002, two brothers, Louis and Angelo Costantino, and three sisters, Frances Martino, Rosalia Lil Mattey and Freda Pella. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 28, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas V.F., pastor, as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
