Obituary

Roy F. Evans, 85, of North Belle Vernon, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, in the Victoria House, Monessen. A son of the late Albert and Edna Costella Evans, he was born in Belle Vernon on Feb. 25, 1920. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. Evans was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Belle Vernon Moose. Roy was an avid bowler and a police officer for Belle Vernon Borough in the early 1940's. He retired from the Uniontown Foodland, where he was the meat department manager. Mr. Evans was inducted into the Belle Vernon Area Football Hall of Fame in 2003 and was a sergeant in the U.S. Marines Corps during World War II. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and John Koslik, of Belle Vernon, a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas E. and Roberta S. Evans, of Michigan, two sisters, Ruth Macknew, of Hagerstown, Md., and Grayce Barley, of York, a brother, Richard Evans, of Belle Vernon, and three grandchildren, Collin, Nolan and Brendan Evans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Amelia Bilitski Evans, on Jan. 1, 2005, and two brothers, Fred and Raymond Evans. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE, www.fergusonfuneralhome.net, a Golden Rule Member Firm, 724-929-5300, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. A Blessing Service will be in the funeral home on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Lawrence Manchas, VF officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. ,
