Joseph G. Savarino; 87; died Wednesday; Nov. 24; 2004 at his residence. He was born Jan. 28; 1917 in Monessen; a son of the late George and Angelina Alfronte Savarino. He was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a 1935 graduate of Monessen High School. Mr. Savarino was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R.C. Church. He was retired from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; having worked in the structural department. Mr. Savarino was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; having served with the coast artillery division. He also was a member of American Legion Post 28 in Monessen. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law; Ida and Vince Delessio; a son; Edward Nelson; all of Sardis; Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law; James A. and Elizabeth M. Savarino of Belle Vernon; two sisters; Angela Indorante of Charleroi and Mary Shaffer of Belle Vernon; his grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife; Viola Caskie Savarino; in 1982; two brothers; Domenick and Mario Savarino; and three sisters; Rose DiCarlo; Jennie Dalfonso and Josephine Seese. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC.; 441 Reed Ave.; Monessen (724-684-8750). Services will be held Saturday; Nov. 27; beginning with a 12:30 p.m. blessing in the funeral home; followed by a 1 p.m. Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R.C. Church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
