Alfred Carini; 78; of Belle Vernon; died Tuesday; Nov. 9; 2004; in Havencrest Nursing Center; Carroll Township. A son of the late Dino and Alberta Sphar Greene Carini; he was born in Belle Vernon on Aug. 9; 1926. Protestant by faith; he was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and had lived most of his adult life in Belle Vernon. He retired from the New York Transit Authority; where he was a principal cashier; and he served for 20 years in the U.S. Army. Survivors include one brother; Deno Carini; one nephew; Dennis Carini and wife Carrie; and one great-niece and -nephew; Chelsea and Dennis J. Carini; all of Belle Vernon. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by one sister; Dolores Carini; in 2003; and one sister-in-law; Ethel Carini; in 2004. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE; (724-929-5300); a Golden Rule Member Firm; 700 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Friday; Nov. 12; at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Eugene Spear; pastor of the Char-Belle Free Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
