Joseph W. Lachman; 95; of the Humbert Lane Nursing Center; formerly of Belle Vernon; died Tuesday; Oct. 26; 2004; following a lengthy illness. He was born March 1909; a son of the late Michael Lachmanek and Caroline Tomalski Lachmanek. Having come from Poland in 1930; he worked as a coal miner at various locations throughout the area and as the custodian for St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife; Sophia Stack Lachman; three brothers; Frank; George and Stanley; and one sister; Anna. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law; Joseph J. and Mary Lou Lachman of Charleroi; William A. and Dorothy Lachman of Bulger; one daughter and son-in-law; Loretta and Leonard Cardiff of Oldsmar; Fla.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE (724-929-5300); a Golden Rule Member Firm; 700 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon. A blessing service will be in the funeral home Friday; Oct. 29; at 10 a.m.; followed by interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery .The rosary will be prayed in the funeral home Thursday at 3 p.m. led by members of St. Sebastian Parish. In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
