Obituary

Lois Jean Ross Popovich, 76, of Bethel Park, formerly of Monessen, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004 in Ridge Point Personal Care Home. She was born Dec. 5, 1927 in Belle Vernon, a daughter of the late Clarence Lloyd and Bessie Sanders Ross. Lois grew up in Monessen and was a graduate of Monessen High School. She and her husband of 55 years, George Popovich, were married on Sept. 2, 1949. In 1952 they moved to Stuart, Fla., and recently returned to Bethel Park. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, George Gary of Miami, Fla., Alan and wife Christine of State College, David of Bethel Park, and Douglas of Brooklyn, N.Y., two brothers, David Ross of Belleville, Mich., and William Bill Ross of Monessen, her stepmother, Luella Ross of Dearborn, Mich., four grandchildren, Alexander, Christopher, Alissa and Julia, and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her guardian, Bess Dowler, one brother, Sam Ross, and two sisters, June Bianchi and Betty Coccari. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 441 Reed Ave., Monessen (724-684-8750). Services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 20 beginning with a 9:30 a.m. blessing in the funeral home, followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. in Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, Belle Vernon, with Hieromonk Patrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. A Parastas service will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Mary's Orthodox Church, 105 South 19th St., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15203.
