Obituary

Raymond H. Evans, 71, of Belle Vernon, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, in UPMC-Montefiore, Pittsburgh. Born in Belle Vernon on July 9, 1933, he was a son of the late Albert and Sylvia Hixson Evans. He was a retired railroad engineer for Monessen Southwestern Railroad, Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. Mr. Evans served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Donora American Legion Post 212. He was Protestant by faith. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Ragan Evans, two sons, Raymond H. Evans II and fiancee Barbara and Robert Evans and wife Jennifer, all of Belle Vernon, one daughter, Brenda Dongilli and husband Kim of Rostraver Township, two brothers, Roy Evans and wife Amelia and Richard Evans, all of Belle Vernon, two sisters, Grace Bairly of York and Ruth McKnew and husband George of Maryland, and eight grandchildren, Private Kristen Evans, Dalton Evans, Jordan Ivill, Robert Evans Jr., and Cagney, Shane, Bredan and Cody Dongilli, and a new grandchild on the way. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Evans, one nephew, Ronald Evans, and two sisters-in-law, Ann Evans and Emma Evans. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Dr., Sweeney Plan/Rostraver Township, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Klein officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
