Obituary

Eugene V. Radar Rade, 73, of North Charleroi, formerly of Monessen and Fayette City, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at 10:10 p.m. in the VA Medical Center, Aspinwall. He was born Nov. 29, 1930, in Naomi, a son of the late Joseph X. and Barbara Cvetan Rade. He was known throughout the Valley for wearing a western hat and was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Mr. Rade was a graduate of Marion High School Class of 1948. He then served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Until his retirement, he was employed with the Cleveland Public Library. He was a life member of the Monessen Slovak Home, and also a member of the Ravens Athletic Association and Croatian Fraternal Union 194. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one nephew, Mark A. Rade in 2003. He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Maezella Rade of Perryopolis, one sister, Seka Pushnack of Charleroi, one nephew, Jeff Raymond of Pittsburgh, three nieces, Barbara Godfrey of Belle Vernon, Tamara Giorgi of Charleroi and Tanya Friedman of Millburn, N.J., numerous great-nieces and nephew, and a dear friend, companion and caregiver, Eva Giannini of North Charleroi. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the YONEY and DeROSE FUNERAL HOME, 100 Schoonmaker Ave., Monessen. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Raymond Ursin officiating. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
