Obituary

Marie Yowonske, 82, of Twilight, died Monday, June 28, 2004, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. A daughter of the late Charles and Mary Queen Steele, she was born in Bower, W.Va., on March 13, 1922. She was Presbyterian by faith and loved gardening and being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Yowonske had lived most of her adult life in Twilight and had been employed by Corning Glass Works. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and John Stoltzfus of Gap, one son, Fred Yowonske of Twilight, two sisters, Pauline Decker of Pittsburgh and Hazel Petroff of Ellsworth, five grandchildren, Ronnie and Randie Yowonske, Shawn, Jason and Lindsay Stoltzfus, and two great-grandchildren, Kierstin and Holly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Yowonske on April 10, 1979, and two sisters, Maude Carson and Opal Hamric. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE, (724-929-5300), a Golden Rule Member Firm, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Additional visitation in the funeral home will be Thursday, July 1 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., the time of services with Rev. Dr. John R. Rankin, pastor of Roscoe Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
