Bruce E. Hill Sr.; 71; of Bedford Heights; Ohio; departed this earth on April 12; 2004. Born March 8; 1933; he was a son of the late George and Hazel Hill. Shortly after high school; Bruce married his high school sweetheart; Bessie Crawly of Monessen. He served as a drill sergeant with the U.S. Army. Bruce went on to graduate from California State University in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree in education; which led him to touch many lives as a teacher; consultant; advisor and mentor. His quest for knowledge led to a master’s degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1972. Bruce earned many honors and awards as affirmation; being a Martha Holden Jennings Award recipient; and listed in Who’s Who among American Teachers. He taught for the Cleveland Board of Education for over 30 years before retiring from the profession in 1992 to care for his wife. He leaves to mourn and celebrate his homecoming; his wife Bessie Marie Hill; two daughters and one son; Carmen Rutledge and husband Rick; Belinda Hill; and Bruce Hill and wife Regina; all of Cleveland; Ohio; six grandchildren; Tony; Alicia; Danielle; Jessica; Chelsea and Jada; and one sister and brother; Doris Lawson and George Hill; both of Charleroi. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by three sisters; Hazel Garland; Mary Smith and Alice Reddick; and three brothers; Eugene; James and Neil Hill. Services where held Saturday; April 17; 2004; in Bedford Heights; Ohio.
