Robert James Hornbake; 73; of Lake Charles; La.; formerly of Belle Vernon; died Saturday; Feb. 28; 2004; at Lake Charles. Born Feb. 18; 1931; in Belle Vernon; he was the son of the late Francis A. and Ethelreda Darker Hornbake. He was a resident of Texas for the past 30 years and was Catholic by faith. Mr. Hornbake retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force; where he was a flight engineer and served in the Korea and Vietnam wars. He is survived by one son; Michael Hornbake of the state of California; two daughters; Barbara Ann Tate of Oklahoma and Kelly Meyers of Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law; George F. and Norma Hornbake of Belle Vernon; and Lawrence E. and Helen Hornbake of Gettysburg; two sisters and one brother-in-law; Betty Maguire of Belle Vernon; and Marcella and Walter Severyn of Pleasant Hills; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; family owned and operated; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A Prayer Service will be held Friday; March 5 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Ronald Cyktor as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Robert James Hornbake on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Sebastian Church.
