HE DIED ON MONDAY;JAN 5 AT 5:15 PM IN JEFFERSON REGIONAL HEALTH SYSTEM;JEFFERSON BOROUGH. HIS FUNERAL MASS WAS HELD AT 10 AM ON THURSDAY;JAN. 8 IN ST.SEBASTIAN R.C.CHURCH.

Obituary

James C. Salvino,83,of Rostraver Township,died Monday,Jan.5,2004,at 5:15 p.m. in Jefferson Regional Health System,Jefferson Borough.  Born June 30,1920,in Monessen,he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Spadafore Salvino.  A member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon,Mr. Salvino was a resident of Rostraver Township for the past 57 years,retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel,Monessen Plant,where he worked as a pipefitter,and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.  Mr. Salvino also was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659,and the Belle Vernon and Fayette City Golden Age assemblies.  He is survived by his wife of 57 years,Lidia Aloisi Salvino;one son and daughter-in-law,Ronald and Rebecca Salvino of Steubenville,Ohio;four daughters and sons-in-law,Mary and Gordon Niceswanger of Library,Rita and John Peskie of Uniontown,Nancy and Louis Keller of Belle Vernon,and Camille and Charles Hixson of Latrobe;one sister, Irene Baron of Belle Vernon;13 grandchildren,Michael and Amy Niceswanger,Angela,Natalie and Mindy Peskie,Leigh Keller,Briene Keller and fiance Peter Batdorf,Aubrey Nurczyk and husband B.J.,Anthony and Vincent Salvino,and Elizabeth,Emilie and Erica Hixson.  Mr. Salvino was preceded in death by one brother,Jano E. Salvino;and five sisters,Emma Zimmaro,Teresa Scurci, Edith Beneccio,Carrie Palm and Alice Frankie.  Visitation will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME,Family Owned and Operated,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon (724-929-6183).  A Prayer service will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m.in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.in St. Sebastian R.C.Church.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the Rosary on Wednesday at 3 p.m.,and Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will conduct services Wednesday at 7 p.m.,both in the funeral home.  For those unable to attend,online condolences may be sent to the family at the funeral home's web site,www.parzynskifuneralhome.com.
