Obituary

Kathryn Markovich Atkinson, 89, of Washington Township, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. She was born Oct. 1, 1914, in Austria, a daughter of the late Phillip and Pearl Pysko Markovich. She was a resident of Washington Township for 25 years, a homemaker, and member of Lynwood Lutheran Church. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dulcie Smith of West Newton, Joy and Jim Pozum, of Washington Township, and Kathy and David Yowonske of North Carolina, three sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Donna Atkinson and Leonard and Debbie Atkinson, all of Fairhope, and Howard Atkinson of Dallas, Texas, one brother, Wallace Markovich of New Jersey, two sisters, Pauline and Lou Valvo, formerly of Cranford, N.J., and Olga Juchnewich of Scranton, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Atkinson, in 1960, one son, Norman Atkinson, one brother, Howard Markovich, and three sisters, Julia Lysko, Eva Kidwell and Margaret Serniak. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, were funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Jack Hernstrom of Lynnwood Lutheran Church officiating.
