Said to have grown despondent over financial matters, James Nolan, aged 48 years, a day worker at the Sommers Mine No. 4 at Pricedale, shot and killed himself at 6 o'clock Saturday morning,May 4,1912. It is said he answered the summons to breakfast by the revolver shot that ended his life. Nolan was married and owned his own home near Linn's Grove back of Belle Vernon. He is said to have lost money through unfortunate trend of affairs in which he was interested. Also it is understood his wife was ill for some time and had to be sent to the hospital, entailing additional expense. Nolan was considered in good circumstances financially. He was widely known in this community. He is said to be a member of several fraternal order in the area. He had no children. The deceased man was quite a freqeunt visitor to Monessen and is well known in this locality. He is said to be a member of several fraternal orders here.
