Carroll Clinton Smith was called home to rest and be at peace eternally on May 27; 2003; at 10:55 p.m. in the V.A. Medical Center in Ohio. He was born May 30; 1937; in Monessen to the late William and Jessie Smith. He attended Charleroi Elementary and Junior High School and graduated from Monessen High School. He was a special disabled veteran of the U.S. Air Force. During his service in Nevada; he met and married his late wife; Arvesta Metcalf Smith. Moving to Washington; D.C.; he worked for and retired from Computer Data Business Center as a computer operator. Carroll; later in life; met and married Barbara Russell Smith and moved to Dayton; Ohio. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his step father; Robert Madison Sr.; four brothers; William; Mark and James Smith and Napolean Madison; one niece; Kathy Madison; and one nephew; Anthony Madison. He leaves to carry on his torch of life his beloved and devoted wife; one daughter; Tatia Smith; three step daughters; Anna Caston; Estelle Dockery and Destyne Ford; two step sons and daughters-in-law; Ronald and Caroletta Hamilton and Rhone and Sonyette Hamilton. Carroll also leaves to mourn two sisters and brothers-in-law; Vivian and Alzono Rodgers; and Barbara Jean and Robert Edwards; two brothers and sisters-in-law; Robert and Marie Smith; and Norman and Darla Madison; three sisters-in-law; Jessie; Sadie and Janice Smith; three brothers; Earl Madison; Charles and Robert Madison Jr.; two sisters; Roberta and Pearl Smith; one brother and sister-in-law; Jessie Russell and Linda and Wesley Brown; 26 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; cousins and friends. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Madison Temple Headquarters; COGIC 533 Ninth St.; also known as love; faith and hope Outreach Ministry; with the Rev. Roderick U.N. Wilson Sr.; pastor; officiating. Co-pastor is Priscilla Wilson. The Rev. Richard Wilson will deliver the eulogy; and interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
