Obituary

Dorothy Eileen Reese Adomaitis, RN, 79, of Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg, formerly of Fallowfield Township, died Friday, April 25, 2003, after a lengthy illness. She was born Oct. 30, 1923, in Belle Vernon, the daughter of the late Ernest William Sr. and Lena Steinmiller Reese. Mrs. Adomaitis attended the Fayette City Christian Missionary Alliance Church, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fallowfield Fire Department, a life member of the McKeesport Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, and a graduate of McKeesport School of Nursing, Class of 1944. From 1944 to 1945 she was Charge Nurse at Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. After receiving her state certification in 1945, she was employed as an industrial nurse for Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport Plant until 1953. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John Reese and Karen Adomaitis of Fallowfield Township, two grandsons, John James and Michael Reese Adomaitis, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest William Reese Jr., in 1931, and her husband, John Adomaitis, March 25, 1985. There will be no public viewing but a service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 in the Belle Vernon Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Darrel Evans officiating. The public is invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McKeesport Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, the American Diabetic Association, or towards a grave marker in her memory. Arrangements are being handled by the ED MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES INC. of Charleroi.
