Dorothy Eileen Reese Adomaitis; RN; 79; of Westmoreland Manor; Greensburg; formerly of Fallowfield Township; died Friday; April 25; 2003; after a lengthy illness. She was born Oct. 30; 1923; in Belle Vernon; the daughter of the late Ernest William Sr. and Lena Steinmiller Reese. Mrs. Adomaitis attended the Fayette City Christian Missionary Alliance Church; was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fallowfield Fire Department; a life member of the McKeesport Hospital Nurses Alumni Association; and a graduate of McKeesport School of Nursing; Class of 1944. From 1944 to 1945 she was Charge Nurse at Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. After receiving her state certification in 1945; she was employed as an industrial nurse for Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport Plant until 1953. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; John Reese and Karen Adomaitis of Fallowfield Township; two grandsons; John James and Michael Reese Adomaitis; nieces; nephews; cousins and many friends. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by one brother; Ernest William Reese Jr.; in 1931; and her husband; John Adomaitis; March 25; 1985. There will be no public viewing but a service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday; April 29 in the Belle Vernon Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Darrel Evans officiating. The public is invited. In lieu of flowers; memorial contributions may be made to the McKeesport Hospital Nurses Alumni Association; the American Diabetic Association; or towards a grave marker in her memory.
