Obituary

Frances Charlene Cook, 57, of Pricedale, died Friday, March 28, 2003, in Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born Jan. 2, 1946, at her home in Pricedale. Frances was a lifetime Christian of Pleasant Green A.M.E. Church from a young age until her death, where she was an aide to the pastor and served on the Missionary Board. Frances was employed at Mayview State Hospital in Bridgeville for 15 years. She graduated with honors from Occupational Industry Center in Charleroi with a degree in business administration. She was in charge of running the Summer Youth Lunch Program for eight years in Pricedale. She then went on to work at Monessen Family Dollar as an assistant manager for eight years, until October 2000, when her illness no longer permitted her to work. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Ray Cook Sr., and mother, Lucy Ada Clemons Cook Johnson, and one grandson, Jaden E. Cook. She is survived by three daughters, Ranell Martine and husband Jeffrey Carlock of Belle Vernon, Celeste Denise Cook of Pricedale, and Stacey Renee Cook and fiance Antoine A. Reid, both of Pricedale, one son, Brian Lee Cook and wife Constance of Monessen, nine grandchildren, Martine, Syleena, Staisha, Bryan, Reyon, Asian, Montell, Amir and Aunye, nine brothers, Fred Banjo Patterson Johnson Jr. and Douglas Pete Kenneth Johnson, both of Pricedale, Lawrence Marvin Johnson of Pontiac, Mich., Charles Ray Cook Jr. of Pricedale, Gary Cook of Hazelwood, Galeon Cook of Pittsburgh, Gaylord Cook of Clairton, and Donald and Ralph Cook, both of Pricedale, four sisters, Norma Jean Jackson of Finleyville, Audrey M. Johnson of Pricedale, Shirley Ann Bizzelle of Charleroi, and Gail Sissy Jeter of Manassas, Va., four sisters-in-law, Evelyn R. Johnson, Rosetta Johnson, Veronica Cook and Paula Cook, two brothers-in-law, Gene Paul Jackson and Roderick Marshall Jeter, three close friends who were like sisters to her, Marie Tiny Fields-Hernandez, Margo Hill and LaVerne Burgess. Ms. Frances has over 100 nieces and nephews and she also has three godsons and one goddaughter, numerous cousins, and a host of friends. Friends will be received Thursday, April 3, at Pleasant Green A.M.E., 403 Johnson Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-3460) from 3 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the church Friday, April 4, at noon with the Rev. Sharon Washington officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the BEVERLY C. DRAPER FUNERAL HOME, Monessen.
