Obituary

Christine Driesen Hayduk Dobas, 89, of North Charleroi, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, in Southwestern Nursing Center, Pleasant Hills. A daughter of the late Frank and Marie Shur Driesen, she was born in Charleroi on Jan. 11, 1914. She was a member of Charleroi United Methodist Church and the Mon Valley Nurses Association, of which she served as a past president. Formerly of North Belle Vernon, Mrs. Dobas had resided in North Charleroi for the past 20 years. She was a private duty registered nurse throughout the Valley and had worked at the former Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Douglas Dobas of Hershey, and Darrell P. and Barbara Dobas of Long Branch, one granddaughter, Madison Dobas, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Hayduk, who died in action during World War II on June 23, 1944, her second husband, V. William Dobas, on Feb. 5, 1999, three brothers, Pierre, who died in infancy, and Rene and George Driesen, and one sister, Edmee Weight. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., a Golden Rule Member Firm, (724-929-5300), 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Services will be held Tuesday, March 11, at 10:15 a.m. in the chapel of Belle Vernon Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Owen officiating.
