Obituary

Rodney Parham, 45, of Belle Vernon, departed this life on Sunday, March 2, 2003, in the Donnell House of Washington. Born Dec. 17, 1957, in Queens, N.Y., he was the son of the late Melvin Eugene Parham and Gwendolyn Spurling Parham, who survives and resides in East Elmhurst, N.Y. He grew up in New York, where he confessed with Christ in Corona, N.Y. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he moved to Belle Vernon and was employed by Giant Eagle of Belle Vernon and Washington where he was the night manager. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Shelley Parham, three step-children, Sequoia, Nathaniel and Quinton, all at home, three uncles, William Spurling of Sunrise, Fla., Lee Spurling of Laurelton, N.Y., and Andrew Spurling of Pocono, seven aunts, Junetta White of St. Louis, Mo., Louise Fourtiere of Detroit, Mich., Dar Doris Weddle of Memphis, Tenn., Frances Goldman of Jackson, Tenn., Ann Spurling of Brooklyn, N.Y., Joanne Palmer of Uniontown and Beverly Spurling of Laurelton, N.Y., two great-aunts, Jessie Mitchell of East Elmhurst, N.Y., and Gladys Roddy of Donora, and a host of cousins and friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sidney Parham. Friends will be received Thursday, March 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church, 41 McKean Ave., Donora. Funeral services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., in the church with the Rev. Millie Thomas officiating. Burial will be held in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The BEVERLY C. DRAPER FUNERAL HOME, 608 Sixth St., Monessen, is in charge of arrangements.
