Obituary

Robert Lamont "Jay Boy" Bristol, 24, of Monessen, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, in the emergency room at Brownsville General Hospital from a stab wound to the chest. Born June 28, 1978, in the former Charleroi-Monessen Hospital, he was the beloved son of Robert Jr. and Cheresse Bristol of Monessen and Cheryl White of Brunswick, Ga. He was a resident of Monessen all his life. Jay Boy , as he was known by all who loved him, was a 1997 graduate of Monessen High School. A standout football player, Bristol, as a linebacker, earned All-Tri-County South Conference honors each of his four years at Monessen High School, playing under the late Jack Scarvel. He was named to the Fabulous 22 his senior year and played in both the Westmoreland County and Washington County all-star football games. In addition to his parents, Robert is survived by one son, Jerimiah Doria of Colorado Springs, Colo., one brother, Dion Carlock of Colorado Springs, Colo., one sister, Denise Bristol of Monessen, grandmothers, Nina L. Russell and Frances V. Bristol, both of Monessen, grandfather, Robert L. Bristol Sr. of Newark, N.J., nieces and nephews, Chanel and Cailee Bristol of Monessen, Nicholas and Makala Carlock of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Trey Carlock of Pittsburgh, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Friends will be received Wednesday in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Reed Avenue, Monessen, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. in the church, with the Rev. Griffin E. Mason, pastor, officiating. The Rev. Wanda L. Sawyer, pastor of Emanual Baptist Church in Rankin, will give the eulogy. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The WILLIAM R. TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 645 McMahon Ave., Monessen, is handling the arrangements with Trudy Taylor Bristol in charge.
