Obituary

William J. Myers, 80, of Belle Vernon, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, in Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late William Henry Myers and Kathryn Carter Myers, he was born in Belle Vernon Jan. 20, 1922. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mr. Myers retired after 39 years from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 82nd Airborne Glider Infantry. Survivors include two daughters, Kathlian S. Myers, at home, and Sally L. Myers of Belle Vernon, one brother and two sisters-in-law, Jesse J. and Sadye Myers of Belle Vernon, and Lida Myers of Cleveland, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and George Myers, his wife, Margaret A. Reeves Myers, one sister, Laura Myers, and one sister-in-law, Ann Myers. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., (724-929-5300) a Golden Rule Member Firm, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Timothy S. McConville officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. If friends wish, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon.
