Obituary

Doris A. Breakwell, 96, of Otto Street, Belle Vernon, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, in Mon Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late Dora and Grace Marston Miller, she was born in Belle Vernon on April 2, 1906. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon, a former member of the Belle Vernon Woman's Club and was instrumental in organizing the first Girl Scouts troop in Belle Vernon. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, she graduated from California Normal School and was a school teacher for 35 years at Marion Elementary School in the Belle Vernon Area School District. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Marion Breakwell of Belle Vernon, two grandsons, Scott Breakwell of Belle Vernon and Christopher Breakwell of Erie, and four great-grandchildren, Nathan, David, Rachel and Sarah Buchko. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford E. Breakwell, on Oct. 22, 2002, a son, Clifford Lee Breakwell, a granddaughter, Beth Breakwell Buchko, and a sister, Catherine Lange. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., (724-929-5300) a Golden Rule Member Firm, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be in the First Presbyterian Church, Fayette Street, Belle Vernon, on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Session of the First Presbyterian Church will hold services in the funeral home Tuesday at 7 p.m.
