Obituary

Elizabeth S. Betty Houseman, 82, formerly of Fayette Avenue, Belle Vernon (Fairhope), died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, in Mon Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late George and Anna Shandor Seman, she was born May 20, 1920, in Arnold City. She was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, the C.D. of A., the Legion of Mary and the Third Order of St. Frances, all of Belle Vernon. Mrs. Houseman had resided most of her adult life in Fairhope. Survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sue Beeler of Arnold City, and Helen and Charles Biksey of Belle Vernon, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Houseman, who died Aug. 10, 1977, three brothers, George, Paul and Andy Seman, and two sisters, Anna Matway, and Mary Seman in infancy. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., (724-929-5300), a Golden Rule Member Firm, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. A Blessing Service will be in the funeral home on Friday at 11:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Sebastian R.C. Church at noon with Father Ronald Cyktor, parochial vicar, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Thursday at 3 p.m. led by members of St. Sebastian Parish.
