Theodore J. Shlanta; 59; of Belle Vernon; Rostraver Township; died Sunday; Nov. 10; 2002; in Allegheny General Hospital; Pittsburgh. He was born Nov. 18; 1942; in Pittsburgh; a son of the late J. Elmer and Mary (Yachup) Shlanta. Mr. Shlanta was a retired chemistry and physics teacher for the Baldwin-Whitehall School District. He was past vice president of Baldwin Federation of Teachers; a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Belle Vernon and Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Whitehall and a member of the Carpatho-Rusyn Society. He was also a collector of fine art and an amateur genealogist. He is survived by numerous cousins and close friends. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC.; 580 Circle Drive; Sweeney Plan/Rostraver Township. Family and friends will meet Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral; Whitehall; for a funeral service; with Father Rajko Kosic officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery; Rostraver Township. Pomen service Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
