Funeral services were held this morning for Donald Arrigoni; 76; of North Belle Vernon; who died Saturday; Aug. 31; 2002; at 1:30 a.m. in Frick Hospital; Mt. Pleasant. Born Feb. 19; 1926; in North Charleroi; he was the son of the late Adoardo and Gina Yeri Arrigoni. Mr. Arrigoni was a resident of North Belle Vernon for the past 53 years; a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon; was retired from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board; where he worked as a clerk; and was previously employed at the former Page’s Wire Mill in Monessen. He was a veteran of World War II; where he served in the U.S. Army Air Force with the 446th Bombardment Group as a gunner on a B24; achieved the rank of staff sergeant and flew more than 250 missions. Mr. Arrigoni also was a member of VFW Post 699; Belle Vernon. He is survived by his wife; Leda Arrigoni; to whom he was married 53 years; three daughters and sons-in-law; Linda and Tom Antal of Belle Vernon; Laurie and Jim Christner of Van Meter; and Susan Malys and Harry Prosba of Library; one brother and sister-in-law; Leo and Joanne Arrigoni of North Charleroi; and two grandchildren; Laurie Torruiso and husband Michael of Belle Vernon; and Jeff Antal; at home. A prayer service was held in the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; Family Owned and Operated; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon; at 9:30 a.m.; followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. John R Cindric; V.F.; pastor; officiating. Entombment was in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The St. Sebastian Legion of Mary prayed the Rosary for the departed soul of Donald Arrigoni this morning in church prior to the Funeral Mass; and members of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 retired and presented the flag to the family.
