Squire James M. Springer; one of
the oldest and best known residents
of Belle Vernon; is dead at his home
on State street at the age of 81 years
and 1 month. Death came Thursday morning;June 20;1907;
after an illness of three
months caused by complications and
old age.
Squire Springer had been a resident
of Belle Vernon all his life and was
probably known to every man; woman

removes one of the town’s staunchest

the peace; meting out justice to all
fairly and impartially. He was just
recently re-elected.
In his younger days he followed undertaking and cabinet making for
about 25 years. He had been a member of the Christian Church for the
past 35 years; had been a regular attendant and for the greater part of
that time acted in the capacity of an
elder.
Besides his friends who were legion;
he is survived by eight children; four
sons and four daughters. His wife
died about fourteen years ago. A
daughter; Mrs. E. M. Kyle; died
three years ago. The remaining
children are Mrs. Laura Cunningham
and Mrs. B. B. Martin of Allegheny;
Mrs. J. B. Baughman of Jeannette;
Mrs. S. W. Murphy of Belle Vernon;
A. R. Springer of Pittsburg;and R.D.;
J. O. and F. A. Springer of Belle Vernon. The funeral services will be
held Saturday morning.June 22;1907; at 10 o’clock

Jobes officiating. Interment later in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
