Edith Mary Nichols; 86; of Monessen; on Monday; Nov. 12; 2001; in Mon Valley Hospital. She was born in Belle Vernon on May 13; 1915; a daughter of the late Charles H. and Eleanore Coulter Martin. Mrs. Nichols was a lifelong Monessen resident and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. She was a former officer and member of the Monessen Eagles Ladies Auxiliary Aerie 2399. Besides her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; Benjamin Nichols Sr.; two sons; Benjamin Jr. and Charles (Eddy) Nichols; two daughters; Patty Stout and Eileen Nichols; two brothers; Charles and Warren E. Martin; and one sister; Eleanore Gourley. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law; Shirley and John Kudlik of Monessen; Alice and Allen McElfresh of Donora; Bernadette Keegan and Bruce Davis of Monessen; Gloria and Bruce DeStefano of Monessen; two sons and daughters-in-law; John (JT) and Sue Nichols of Columbus; Ohio; Carl and Cathy Nichols of Monessen; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister; Ann Schiermann of Columbus; Ohio; two sisters-in-law; Hannah Martin of Sharon; Pa. and Eva Martin of Monessen; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC.; Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue; Monessen. A blessing will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home; followed by funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
